Fire Walk - February 26th 2010

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk on fire?

So have we!

A special event is taking place at the Bells Sports Centre on Friday the 26th of February raising important funds for volunteer lifeboat crews. You can take the chance to try walking on hot coals and in doing so, help raise money for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).

And while you are being trained for your unique experience, there will be entertainment for you and your friends and family, including a samba band and a fire performer.

If you'd like to help out then call Lizzie on 642999.

A team from Perth FM are going to be heading along to take part! We're sending along our very own Ray Dallas and Linsey McArthur to conquer the hot coals!

If you would like to donate to the cause, you can visit our fundraising page at http://www.justgiving.com/perth-fm.

You can also check out the RNLI direct at http://www.rnli.org.uk/events

Let it Snow!

As Schools in the USA close down due to an inch of snow falling overnight (true story) and Florida declares a Statewide emergency because the weather dipped to freezing (and slightly below, though the emergency is for the citrus and strawberry crops and not just because it got "a bit chilly") the hardy people of Perth have continued on despite far too many inches of snow.

Our schools have remained open, with only 1 or 2 with any problems and we all went back to work this week trudging through the snow no matter what.

As we brace for the coldest nights in 20 years, we couldn't help but notice that the Tay has been frozen over in parts for the last few days. We couldn't help but notice because it's right on our doorstep!

So we went out and took some pictures:

Here's one of the South Inch as well, and of course there's a massive pile of snow there by the car park (though it's not in the photo) that the snow plows have left behind.

And as I stepped onto a bank of snow to get a little closer to the railing to take a picture, my feet disappeared from under me. And here's the proof!
